"Molly Smiles" (for Sarah)
Daddy's little girl paints the world with her magic wand
Daddy's little child breathes new life to the morning time for me
Though we're apart, her thoughts follow me
When I come home, Molly smiles with the dawn
Molly smiles, and she radiates the glow around her halo
When she plays, Molly smiles
On a summer day, Molly smiles
A new day, Molly smiles
Daddy's little girl ties a ribbon around my heart
Daddy's little child waves goodbye to the ocean tide that sweeps me
Though we're apart, she's a part of me
Molly smiles with the dawn
Molly smiles and she radiates the glow around her halo
When she plays, Molly smiles
On a summer day, Molly smiles
A new day, Molly smiles
When I come home, Molly smiles with the dawn
Molly smiles and she radiates the glow around her halo
When she plays, Molly smiles
On a summer day, Molly smiles
A new day, Molly smiles
When the days have gone grey,
Nothing's wrong when Molly smiles

08-19-2022 I just added the picture of Amber and me. I kid you not, but as I pulled it up to see how it looked, the song "Fly" by Celine Dion began to play. Play it on YouTube as you look at this picture and you will understand the meaning of this note. For Amber.
Easter Storm 2020
Easter Storm 2020
The neighborhood, void of traffic; residents tucked securely within their homes.
All is not quiet, all is not calm. But, in its own way, it is peaceful.
Again, another Easter laced with storms. I was told that a tornado was spotted north of town earlier this evening.
Out front, I sit, watching the fury and beauty of nature unfold. Majestic!
There are moments of calm followed by extreme gusts of wind, twisting and bending of branches as the leaves struggle to hold on.
The melodies of the wind chimes are almost hypnotic, accompanied by the sound of rain flowing off the roof, like a waterfall, splattering on the porch
Christmas Gift
For many, Christmas may appear to be about getting the biggest, or most impressive gifts. But, sometimes, it can be the smallest, the most unexpected gifts that can have the greatest meaning of all. Today, I got such a gift.
It is Christmas Eve. Just a few days ago was the first official day of winter. Here, in Alabama, we certainly can have our share of warmer patterns around Christmas, but today, it was blue skies and seventy-one degrees. Sorry, no white Christmas for us this year. Personally, that is just fine with me.
Having no family or friends to spend the occasion with, I decided to take advantage of the lovely day and go
For Dad - Father's Day 2016
It was this time a year ago that I was shooting pictures in Spain. During a break I was handed a note and told to call the number written on the piece of paper. Immediately I recognized the number for my sister back home and my heart sank.
My father's health had steadily declined in the previous months and we all knew his remaining time was short. Receiving this note was not a good sign.
As my sister answered the phone she said, "I guess you know why I called?" Quietly I said yes and asked when it happened. She said he passed away early that morning.
I excused myself from the others and took a short walk to the nearby river
